Farm Assistant and Educator
Marisa was introduced to Acta Non Verba while working with an East Oakland-based environmental justice organization as a student at UC Berkeley. Coming from a family with roots in the American South and Central Mexico, Marisa’s natural draw to the ways that food, farming, environment and community can be an opportunity for self-determination and liberation have guided her since first becoming involved in environmental work. Marisa became a camp counselor for Camp ANV’s summer session before becoming the Farm Assistant and Educator the following year. She is grateful to be doing this work in Oakland, learning from her peers, community and colleagues to build towards a freer and healthier present and future.
